Eliz (far left) was selected to represent GB in the Winter Cup.

Year 11 student, Eliz Maloney, was selected, along with two other girls, to represent Great Britain in the Winter Cup. Eliz was the British Number One and as such played against the number one player of the opposing countries. Eliz won all of her Singles and Doubles matches. In the first match, Britain beat Slovenia 2-1 and Eliz beat Kristina Novak of Slovenia 6-1, 6-4. In the second match, Britain beat Denmark 3-0 and Eliz beat Rebekka Hillingso 7-6, 6-2 in her singles and, with her partner won the Doubles 6-2, 6-1. In the third match, Britain beat Poland 3-0 and Eliz beat Iga Swiatek 6-1, 6-1 and won the Doubles 6-1, 6-3. Not only did Eliz win all of her Singles and Doubles matches, she did not drop a set in either. All a result of these victories, Britain qualified for the finals of the Winter Cup which will take place in the Czech Republic between the 19th and 21st February. (Thanks to P.
