'It Snows' - Waterman's Art Centre, Brentford
On Wednesday the 27th of April ‘THA Sparks’ student based Theatre Company from The Harefield Academy went to Waterman's Theatre in Brentford to perform a brand new play 'It Snows’ by Bryony Lavery as part of the National Connections Theatre project. The play is a lively ensemble piece about the magic of a snow day!
The students had a taste of life as professional performers as they took control of the Theatre for the day. As the sleet started to fall the Theatre hotted up as the students carried out their technical rehearsal.
The creativity carried on in earnest into the afternoon as the students took part in set design and costume workshops. The students 'wowed' us with their imagination and creative flair as their stage and costume designs were brought to life.
At 7.45pm the Company took the stage and performed to their audience. The students pulled off a stunning performance jam packed with energy, laughter, sorrow and joy as they told the story of Caitlin Amoretti and Cameron Huntley. Two teenagers destined never to get together, until the charm of a snow day when magical things happen. The horrors of teenage life, spots, Saturday jobs, school and intimidating 'lads gang' all melt away. But still the snow does not solve all the characters problems. The weird girl leaves the audience questioning the happy ending.
Miss Margan, Head of Drama at The Harefield Academy, said that she is so proud of all the students' hard work and enthusiasm throughout the project and said that this was a prime example of the inspirational work our students at The Harefield Academy are capable of producing.
