Much merriment ensued as THA was full of festive cheer on Monday 12th December when we welcomed local Senior Residents to The Academy for our annual Christmas Party.
Guests were treated to a programme of entertainment including musical interludes from the Chamber Choir of Year 7 singing Christmas Carols charmingly, with wonderful piano accompaniment from Ms MacDonald and an arrangement of musicians from The Academy Orchestra to provide Christmas cheer. We were also regaled by an entertainer with songs through the years and looked back fondly at Christmases from the past through the music. A special Christmas quiz was arranged and great fun was to be had with our Sixth Formers organising the answers and this was followed by a TV quiz which tested our memories and caused lots of delight!
A three course Christmas afternoon tea, accompanied by a glass of sherry or fruit punch, was organised, cooked and served by our Year 10 and 11 hospitality students (with the wonderful help of Mrs Bates and Mr Martin) and enjoyed by everyone. Many of our Sixth Form students joined our guests at the tables to share stories and pull crackers as well as enjoying the sumptuous spread. Our guests went home with fantastic raffle prizes! All of our guests were also presented with a gift and a Christmas card to take home; all in all, a lovely afternoon which was thoroughly enjoyed by both our local friends and the youngsters who volunteered to stay and enjoy the occasion.
Special thanks also go out to the Worshipful Mayor of Hillingdon and the Mayoress for joining us for this festive annual event. (Ms Gordon)
