During the spring half term Years 9 and 10 had the wonderful opportunity to visit Rome and Sorrento.
The students got to explore the beautiful and historic city of Rome, visiting sites such as the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain and the centre of the Roman Catholic Church, the Vatican.
After three packed days in Rome, staff and students headed over to the dramatic cliff top resort of Sorrento situated in the Bay of Naples. This was used for a base to explore the ruins of the towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum destroyed 2,000 years ago by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The students even had the chance to scale the mountain and admire the beautiful views of the bay and surrounding countryside.
The students had a great time exploring Italy’s culture and history. The Humanities Department look forward to arranging another trip in the future!
