Super weekend of sports results for The Academy
In one amazing weekend, athletes from The Academy made their presence known at National and Regional competitions, in three different sports.
Our international swimmer, Karley Mann, fought against injury to win bronze at the Senior British Gas Swimming Championships in Manchester over the weekend. Karley has been at the week-long competition in Manchester, competing against British, European and Olympic medallists. The result shows her strength in the 200m backstroke and is a great result looking forward to 2012 and beyond.
Meanwhile, gymnasts from Harefield Gymnastics Academy were competing at the London Regional National Preliminary competition to earn a place on the regional squad for the British Finals in May. Josie Cook, Year 8, and her partner Louise took the gold medal and regional title and will now represent London in May. Her twin sister Michaela Cook, with her partner Ben Findlay in the Sixth Form, also took the regional title in Grade 4 Mixed Pairs and will travel to Stoke-on-Trent in May. Ben also earned a place in the Tumbling squad at the same competition, and Michaela took tumbling silver. James Karageorgis, Year 8, and his Grade 2 Men's Pair partner also medalled at the competition, settling for bronze in a tough competition with strong contenders from across London.
Finally, the table tennis team had more success in the National Cadet League. The Academy had three teams which included over 15 home grown players all competing in The National Cadet League held at Capital City Academy over the weekend.
Two years ago The Academy had two teams in this event and finished dead last in both Division 1 and 2. Today we have a different story to tell. Team A took the title and remained undefeated throughout the season in Division 1. Whilst Team B also remained undefeated and won Division 2 with Team C closely following, finishing in third place overall.

Another amazing weekend which highlights the level of talented athletes training at The Harefield Academy and is an inspiration for the other athletes to train harder and make their mark in their own sports.
