Silver Success for Connor

Connor Feek (Year 11) could not be a better role model for Lewis House and their Olympic value of ‘determination’.  Until this season, Connor has been a little undecided as to which track event he should concentrate on but from now on, it is definitely the 200 metres.  At the weekend, Connor competed in the indoor Middlesex County Championships, held at the Lea Valley stadium, in the 200m event.  Having run a good heat in 23.87 secs he was determined that he could achieve a good run in the final – and he did!  Unfortunately, he was beaten into the silver medal position by his training partner!  Although bitterly disappointed, Connor ran a personal best of 23.47 secs and made the national standard.

Connor has trained really hard over the winter months, between 5 and 6 times a week, and is now seeing the benefits of his hard work.  Ex Harefield Academy athlete, Rion Pierre has also been working with Connor and says, “Connor has the focus and determination to succeed in this sport.  All I am trying to do is to give him some pointers in technique and a greater understanding of his body”.

Having overcome his disappointment at the weekend, Connor is even more determined to improve as the outdoor season approaches, so that he can achieve gold in May and represent The Harefield Academy at the English Schools’ Championships.
