National Qualifying Times for Two Swimmers
Congratulations to both Daniel Brennand (Year 8) and Paige Mann (Year 9) who have both achieved national qualifying times recently in 100m backstroke and 800m freestyle respectively.
Daniel took part in the Arena Swimming League 'B' Final at Ponds Forge, Sheffield on 22nd April as part of the Ealing team. He swam the 100m backstroke in a time of 1:06.98 which was a PB for him and a National Qualifying Time (NQT is 1:07.18). Daniel’s previous time for this event was 1:09.36, almost 3 seconds slower. Not content with one personal best, Daniel went on to achieve two more PBs in the 50m freestyle (27.77) and 50m backstroke (30.71).
Paige belongs to Hillingdon Swimming Club and achieved her National Qualifying Time of 9mins 22 secs for the 800 freestyle at the Crawley meet on 14/15 April. She is now ranked 10th in her age group for this event. Paige was also close to National Qualifying Times in the 200 individual medley and the 400 freestyle, clocking times of 2:31 (2secs off NQT) and 4.39 (4 secs off NQT) respectively. Paige is now looking forward to swimming in Sheffield in the last week of May and in the London Regionals scheduled for the first two weeks of June.
