Green Finger Funding for Horticulture
Horticulture students at The Harefield Academy were smiling after receiving a cheque for £500 towards their horticulture course.
Stephanie Harrod from Harrod Horticulture and Garry Worrel from Sports Equipment Ltd were given a tour of The Academy by the students and were very impressed by the attitude and behaviour of the students taking the course and the opportunity that is being given in this ground breaking qualification.

Students are working towards a Level 1 City and Guilds and a BTEC in Horticulture. While doing so they are developing keyskills working with others, improving their own learning and problem solving.
The course involves the running of 3 local allotment plots, developing an understanding of the sports turf and groundsmanship and is based on assessment, observation and a portfolio.
