Student Success at the Jack Petchey Awards
Eight of our students received gold medals at the Jack Petchey Awards Evening on Wednesday 27th April 2011 at the Beck Theatre in Hayes. Schools from all over Hillingdon were represented and an enthusiastic audience cheered the Award winners.

Massive congratulations needs to go out to all our Award winners! Below are the citations with the reasons for the Awards. In addition to the Award, medal and certificate, the winners also receive £200 to spend on something in school that will benefit other students – check out what they've chosen in the list below.
Gregory Deer
Reason for Award: Tremendous support with younger students during Personalised Learning time, with guided reading, support with homework and a great role model for younger students also. Always, pleasant, polite and willing to help out whenever he can.
£200 Used For: Purchase of books chosen by students to support the getting boys reading programme.
James Miles
Reason for Award: James is a Year 11 Diplomat, Peer Mentor and an active member of our Student Voice programme. If you ever need a volunteer to help out at open evenings, parent evenings or any school based event, James is always more than willing to support.
£200 Used For: Year 11 Prom fund
Meave McHugh
Reason for Award: Meave throws herself enthusiastically into a range of opportunities on offer at The Harefield Academy, whether this is playing table tennis or supporting younger students with this sport. In addition, Meave is a terrific musician and has been "instrumental" in helping lead the development of the music within The Academy. As well as this, she is always willing and able to support Academy events such as hosting Young Sports Leaders activities with younger students from infant and junior schools. A genuine role model.
£200 Used For: Year 11 Prom fund
The following students were all chosen for the Jack Petchey Award for the same reason:-
Excellent set of Attitude to Learning grades on report and very high number of merit marks throughout the year as well as excellent attendance.
Katie Merson
£200 grant will be used for: Funding a Sixth Form student trip to a "safe drive stay alive" roadshow.
Bradley Hayden
£200 grant will be used for: Tennis equipment for tennis club.
Sana Malik
£200 grant will be used for:Rosetta Stone Software for languages club.
Kiera Evans
£200 grant will be used for: Purchase special/fancy stationery that can be awarded to students at assembly for good work. Student Voice to vote on winners.
Ciara Conway
£200 grant will be used for: Inspirational speaker or a student workshop to improve our study skills.
