Table Tennis Squad - Rising Up the National Rankings
The last weekend of half-term saw a number of Harefield Academy students enduring a 7 hour drive to reach one of the biggest table tennis tournaments of the year in Stockton-on-Tees.
In the singles many of The Harefield Academy students reached the knockout stages including Mitchell Jones, Danny Lewis, Baiden Thoroughoood, Gene Carr, Joe Franklin and Alex Cleary. Most of these players already hold English rankings and only lost out to higher ranked opposition.
Tyrone Wells and Adam Reed shone throughout the tournament beating many higher ranked players and again only losing to much older, more experienced or higher ranked individuals. Adam reached the quarter finals losing to the eventual winner of the competition. Tyrone also reached the quarter finals losing to a player that he had already beaten on the previous day!
Overall it was a fantastic experience for all and one that was clearly noticed by other table tennis clubs and spectators. The Harefield Academy table tennis squad are definitely becoming a force to be reckoned with on the English table tennis circuit!
