Variation on a Theme!
Meet Jordan Sexton in Year 9. Jordan is not just a pool swimmer; he is also an open water swimmer!
Being a member of Hillingdon Swimming Club and coached by Dave Hemmings, Jordan’s preferred stroke in the pool is butterfly and over the longer distances. However, while watching Jordan in the pool one day, one of the coaches spoke to Mr Sexton about open water swimming and in an effort to encourage his Dad to join him in his favourite sport, Jordan agreed to give it a go! The rest, as they say, is history. Jordan has been swimming in open water for about 2 years now and over the summer competed in open water events in Windsor (swimming 1.9km) and Henley (swimming 3km and 3.8km distances), winning a trophy for the first placed male junior in the 3.8 km river swim. Needless to say, one of Jordan’s ambitions is to become a national champion in open water swimming!
