VICTORY FOR THA PUBLIC SPEAKERS
THA scored another victory when it won through to the zone finals of Rotary Club’s national public speaking competition.
The team triumphed over speakers from St Helen’s in Northwood, Uxbridge College, Vyners School in Ickenham and Northwood School.
The THA team, consisting of Jody (Redgrave House), Adeeba and Chatcha, made a clean sweep in the senior section – winning best team prize. The students, who spoke on the subject of ‘Taking Things for Granted?’ are studying hard for their GCSEs.
The zone final of the National Rotary Youth Speaks competition takes place in February 2012 and run by The Rotary Club of Ascot. The District Final takes place in High Wycombe in March, and winners will go through to the national final.
Mrs Gordon said: “This is brilliant news for our team and the whole of THA. It was tough competition so we are particularly pleased to have won through against such impressive opponents. THA has an incredibly diverse range of students and it is terrific to see them holding their own in this arena.”
THA team triumphed over other schools in this round, run by the Rotary Club of Elthorne Hillingdon, to win their place at the zone finals.
