Reflection of Olympic Values

In the run-up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the six houses within Academy are in the process of deciding how to leave a legacy of their Olympic values for future students to appreciate.

Both Pele and Navratilova wanted to use their Olympic values of Friendship and Respect to feature in a garden of reflection.  With the help of Mrs Dunton, the students studying horticulture and our two grounds men, the area adjacent to the astro is being transformed!  The two main beds have been planted with ‘2012’ and ‘THA’ outlined in different coloured pansies and lie either side of a bench, where student can sit quietly and reflect.  The two granite plinths either side of the beds carry the house logos and Olympic values as a reminder to students who visit the area.

With spring just around the corner, the green budded pansies will bring the ‘THA’ and ‘2012’ to life when they open in vibrant colour – a sight that just can’t be missed!
