Once again it was a great pleasure to welcome the ‘Only Connect’ group back to The Academy last Friday, this time to perform in front of our 6th Form students.  They performed another superb and powerful production which was particularly relevant for this age group.  Our students were extremely appreciative of the way the group shared their experiences which will, no doubt, have a lasting impact on them.

OC Impact is a crime prevention programme for London schools, colleges and youth centres.

Since 2008 they have worked with the Metropolitan police and schools and youth groups across London, reaching over 7,000 young people.

 

Using a combination of humour and realism, they explore the situations young people find themselves in at home, at school and in the streets. They examine attitudes, choices and behaviour in a direct, dramatic and relevant way.

 

The mission of OC Impact is: “To prevent youth crime by reaching at-risk students and young people with a powerful and effective message about the choices they face, using ex-offenders and former youth at risk to deliver arts-based projects, personal testimonies and one-to-one or small group support.”
