THA Production of Hairspray!
Over the last few months both staff and students have been rehearsing intensively to prepare for The Academy production of Hairspray. The performances took place on Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th of June in The Academy Theatre. All the hours of rehearsals really paid off resulting in a fantastic show! Charlotte Jackson (Year 12) featuring as the main character, Tracy Turnblad, following the "pleasantly plump" teenager as she pursues stardom as a dancer on a local TV show and rallies against racial segregation. Charlotte gave a fantastic performance alongside Lauryn Nwaeze (Year 10) as ‘Motor-mouth Maybelle’ whose singing brought the house down! There were so many young rising stars within the cast including Olivia Brennand (Year 7) who played superbly, Amber, the slightly spoilt and stuck up teen rival of Tracy, and Marie Edoa (Year 7) playing Little Inez, who dazzled the audience with her dancing skills. The male members of the cast were not to be outshone with phenomenal comic performances by George Fellows (Year 13) playing Tracy's mum Edna and Callum Davies (Year 9) as Corny Collins, the TV show presenter.

'The cast of Hairspray'
The show was an all singing, all dancing extravaganza which brought much joy and laughter to the packed audiences that came to support the students over the two evenings. Well done to everybody involved in the production.
