The Harefield Academy is the official education provider for Watford FC, where young boys aged 11 –18 are educated and, in the case of the 11—16yr olds, trained on site by the Watford FC academy coaches.
The Harefield Academy are offering the opportunity for boys aged 16—19 to follow a programme like that of the Watford FC academy players.
The Sporting Excellence Scheme
The programme is designed to allow students to develop their own performance level whist increasing their understanding about what it take to play sport at the highest level.
This is achieved by specialist football training, fitness training (following a fully periodised programme) and a Vocational BTEC course (equal to 2 A levels). Anyone wanting to take additional A levels can add these to the programme, and many students are currently doing this successfully. Completion of the course can lead to university, employment in the sports industry and a career in football
Who is the programme for?
Any boy that plays football.
Ideally boys should be competing at county level or have been released from a professional club.
Boys will be selected based on trials, sports and academic references and interviews.
