World Book Day

World Book Day/The Big Read Event in Personalised Learning Thursday 5th March

On World Book Day we celebrated both our enjoyment of reading and additionally raised awareness of those children in other countries who may not have access to books or any formal education. We feel strongly about this political issue and wanted to be a part of the wider schools campaign to remind world leaders that all children should be able to enjoy reading.

It enabled us to consider the plight of children in other cultures and countries.

Firstly we watched the short film about 'The Big Read - send my friend to school' in Personalised Learning groups.

Next, we completed the No 10 action card with powerful words, pictures or slogans to send to 10 Downing Street.

Finally, we distributed the £1 book vouchers to each student which can be exchanged for a free title or can be used as £1 off any title of their choice from any book shop.
