England Colleges Squad Call Up for Dan Carter

Dan Carter has at last been rewarded for his perseverance and determination!
Keen to continue his interest in football, Dan joined The Harefield Academy three years ago as a post 16 student to study for a BTEC National Diploma (Performance and Excellence) Level 3. With support and guidance from Watford FC, this course has provided Dan with a real opportunity to focus on improving his playing skills. While playing in the Colleges’ League for The Harefield Academy, Dan was selected for trials by the English Colleges FA.  The final trail was held at Lilleshall and just before Christmas, Dan was given the news that he has been selected for the English Colleges squad.

Dan is set to make his debut for the national colleges’ side when they take on their Welsh counterparts this month (January), and is also in line for a four-way tournament also featuring Croatia, Romania and hosts Italy, later in March.

Pat Cottis, Executive Director (Specialism) said, “We are absolutely delighted for Dan and wish him well in the coming months.  He is our first post 16 student to play for the English Colleges squad and it just shows what can be achieved with hard work, determination and a ‘never give up’ attitude. Dan’s determination to succeed has also resulted in him being given a two week trial with the Watford Youth squad. His achievement must certainly be an inspiration for others.”
