Harefield Gymnasts perform at the 02 Arena

Three senior gymnasts from The Harefield Academy got the chance to perform in front of television cameras and the World’s press at the 02 Arena in London this month.

Robyn Birch, Year 11, and members of staff, Claire-Louise Thompson and Grace Blacklock are acrobatic gymnasts at Harefield Gymnastics Academy, working together as a Senior Women’s Group.

The trio have recently returned from the Acrobatic Gymnastics European Championships, held in Portugal earlier this month.

As part of the Great Britain team, the girls were asked to showcase Acrobatic Gymnastics at the prestigious World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, alongside the likes of Beth Tweddle, who became World Floor Champion at the event.

The girls highlighted the excellent standard of Acrobatic Gymnastics being produced across Great Britain, as well as drawing attention to the continuing success of the Sporting Excellence programme here at The Harefield Academy.
The routine was performed beautifully, and the World’s press were left amazed by their spectacular skills, along with the 10,000 plus spectators in the 02 Arena who applauded every skill.
