Harefield Students Attend Inter-Faith Afternoon

Three Year 8 students from The Harefield Academy, Adeeba Ali, Hannah Morrish and Kim Johnson, attended the Hillingdon Inter-Faith Event organised by Swakeleys School on Wednesday 21st October.

The event was held at Hillingdon Baptist Church and was attended by a variety of faith and non-faith schools in the Borough. A delicious buffet was provided by the Church and everyone had a lovely time talking about religious and non-religious topics.

The girls took part in various activities, learning about different faiths and making new friends along the way. The afternoon was co-hosted by Swakeleys and the Three Faiths Forum, both of which provided students and staff with food for thought about their heritage, their faith and their beliefs.

The Three Faiths Forum has worked to encourage harmony and confront prejudice for over ten years; its objectives are to build lasting relationships between people of different faiths and those of non religious beliefs.

One of the workshops, “What’s Your Story”, involved writing about an event in your life which changed the way you think about the world. The afternoon was a chance for young people to take time and think about the way they see each other and listen to different experiences of people from different faiths.

Adeeba, Hannah and Kim were great ambassadors of The Harefield Academy, and made lots of relevant points and got involved in all the activities. The girls have now been awarded a certificate for their participation in the event.
