BTEC First Certificate in Media - Level 2
Is it for me?
You should have an interest in the media industry. This is a level 2 course and is equivalent to studying 2 GCSEs
What will I study?
This course is designed to provide students with a wide range of practical and technical skills relating to key aspects of media production. In basic terms, they cover the following elements of the media:
Visual: still and moving image production eg. photography, video and animation
Sound: sound recording/mixing/editing eg. film soundtracks, radio and music production
Text: desktop publishing ie. page layout, computer graphics eg. magazines, newspapers.
How will I be Assessed?
The course is assessed through ongoing written and practical-based assignment work.
There are 3 units to complete: Research for Media Products, Advertising Production and Print Production.
How will I be taught?
A great deal of the activity is practical groupwork and learning by doing. There are also study-based lessons which cover such things as Soap Operas, Hollywood Films, Popular Music, the Press etc, as well as exploring issues such as censorship, news coverage etc.
