Why should I study this subject?
Business Studies will help you develop a critical understanding of organisations, the markets they serve and the process of adding value. You will be able to study business behaviour from the perspectives of a range of stakeholders. You will become aware of the economic, environmental and ethical issues associated with business activity.
At AS, students will study the following units:
Unit 1: Developing New Business ideas
Unit 2: Managing the Business
At A2, students will consider strategies for larger businesses and how managers might measure the performance of the business. This specification draws student’s awareness of the impact of International Business, international trade and the growth of India; China; Brazil and Russia. The A2 considers the effects that external factors can have on businesses and how a business can plan for and manage change, including leadership style and change in business culture. The following units that will be studied at A2 are:
Unit 3: International Business
Unit 4: Managing Business Decisions

The subject is well-suited to those who want to pursue further study or a career in accountancy, management studies and business. It is also likely to appeal to those interested in journalism or the legal profession.
