Curriculum, visitors and excursions

This is a BTEC course and is internally assessed. All assessment for BTEC First qualifications is criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.

Our students will complete three specific units during this course on:
Unit 1: Public Service Skills.
Unit 6: Citizenship, the Individual and Society.
Unit 21: ICT and Public Services.

All students will need to show the following skills:

  • Application of knowledge and understanding
  • Development of practical and technical skills
  • Personal development for occupational roles

Students will be developing their ICT skills within their lessons and will be producing different forms of evidence for their units in the form of assignments. The types of evidence used will include written reports, graphs, posters, along with projects, performance observation and time-constrained assessments.

Visitors from all forms of Public Service life, for example the Royal Air Force and the Metropolitan Police, will share their own experiences with our students to encourage the need to emphasise the practical application of this subject. Students will also be given the opportunity to visit different Public Service institutions as well.
