Curriculum
Year 7 have One x60min lesson per week and topics include Taking Part, Community, Grange-Enders, Anti – Bullying, Personal Finance, Careers and Puberty.
Year 8 have One x60 min lesson per week and Topics include Money Matters, Personal Safety, Drugs and Alcohol Education, Relationships, Mental Health, Sex Education, Careers and Guided Choices and Anti -Bullying
Year 9 and 11 have One x60min lesson per week and will study the following qualifications:
AQA Award / Certificate in Personal and Social Education Level 2
The Certificate and Award are unit based qualifications comprising 12 optional Units.
For an Award a student needs 4 units (3 must be at level 2 or above) 8 credits
For a Certificate a student needs 7 units (4 must be at level 2 or above) 14 credits
Level 1 represents same standard as GCSE Grades D-G
Level 2 represents the same standard as GCSE Grades A*- C

Year 11 will have from Sept 2011 – April 2012 to complete the course to Award or Certificate level and if students are willing to work independently to achieve 7 units they can achieve the equivalent of a GCSE. This work could be carried out in PL time.
