Curriculum

Dance is taught at Key Stage 3 to all students. Each student has a one hour Dance lesson each week. Schemes of Work studied are as follows:

In Year 9, 10 and 11 students will have the opportunity to opt to take BTEC Performing Arts Dance to extend their interest and ability in the subject area.  Students will study the course over three years for three hours per week.

The units involved in the course include Performing Dance, Contemporary Dance, Urban Dance, and Jazz Dance.  The course is taught in a practical way and involves technique classes, choreography and exploration of new material and appreciation of professional and each other’s work.
