Homework & Assignments
KS3 students will receive homework every fortnight and should spend at least 30 minutes completing work.
KS4 students will be required to spend at least 2 hours a week on their portfolio outside of lessons. There is a range of after school art sessions available for students to gain extra help and support.
Homework Policy
Homework is for reinforcing understanding from class work and the practice of particular skills and researching information in preparation for class work.
It is set on average, three times per half term and students are expected to spend at least half an hour on their task.
Work will be given a grade, plus verbal feedback or a written comment. Targets will be given where appropriate and merits are awarded for outstanding work or effort.
Exceptional homework is displayed on the Department notice board under the heading ‘Artist of the Month’. The selected homework is collated in a folder as exemplar material and the student is given a department postcard to recognise their achievement.
Certificates are awarded at the end of the year to students who have shown sustained exceptional performance.
Homework is usually graded according to the guides. National Curriculum Levels are set at the end of a project or unit of work.

EFFORT
WHAT IT MEANS
1
FULLY
FLUENT(With a merit - high standard, creatively thought about the presentation, drawn skilfully and a great deal of effort has been put into the work)
2
MOST
CONFIDENT (Well-presented and thought out, drawn well, sentences are written in own words, there is also evidence that a lot of time and effort has been put into the work)
3
SOME
BASIC (Some effort has been applied, drawings only have some detail, research is brief and presentation is average)
4
SLIGHT
LIMITED (Not enough effort have been put into the work, a lack of understanding about the homework and what is expected of the piece, works seems rushed and incomplete)
