Our Organisation

The Academy is organised to give students the support needed so that they can achieve beyond the expected levels. We also encourage students to work at the pace that is correct for their ability and, increasingly, progress will not be linked to the age of the student.

We are also organised so that students support each other across the age ranges.

The staffing structure is designed to enable teaching staff to plan high quality and inspirational lessons. Talented and able support staff are able to give quality time to helping teachers produce excellent materials and to ensure that administration is dealt with effectively. Staff are also available to support students so that they can make the best use of the high quality of education on offer.

Academic Tutor Groups - All students are members of an Academic Tutor Group. Between 20 - 25 students form each group and each has three to four students from each year group. This is a most positive feature of The Academy as older students help and support younger students on a daily basis.

Houses - Each Academic Tutor Group is a member of one of six Houses. Houses meet for assemblies and community events, such as sports competitions and fundraising.

Heads of Houses - Senior staff lead Houses and have oversight of students progress.

Student Managers - Student Managers do not teach and are therefore available to work with students who require support, to investigate problems and to meet with parents.

Student Services - The student service staff provide a reception facility for students who need to, for example, find items of lost property, hand in return slips and money for trips or outings.
