We are delighted to announce that our very own Ms King, Director of Learning for Maths, has been awarded Secondary School Teacher of the Year!

Ms King was presented with the Award at The London Teacher of the Year Award Winners' Dinner in Mayfair, London on Friday 14th June 2019.

Ms King's citation:

In September 2017 when Ms King came to The Harefield Academy as Director of Learning for Maths, she found some gaps in the students knowledge of Maths and to compensate for this she ran a free Saturday school every single week for a whole academic year. These sessions had a near 100% attendance rate.

Ms King also introduced a system in which Sixth Form students act as expert mentors, working with targeted students to provide support in and out of lessons. Her commitment and nurturing approach were exemplified in the way she worked with one student in her spare time to enable them to complete A level maths and further maths in one year.

Ms King is an outstanding practitioner.

We are also delighted to announce that Ms Denham, Assistant Headteacher, was Highly Commended in the 2019 London Teacher of the Year Awards.
