Non-uniform day Thursday 17 October

Dear Parent/Carer,

Non-Uniform Day – Thursday 17th October

Students are invited to bring a suggested donation of £1 in return for wearing non-uniform to school on Thursday 17th October 2019. Donations will be collected as students arrive in the morning and we ask that the correct change is brought to ease collection. This non-uniform day is a student-led, fund-raising initiative by our Year 11 Trailblazers group.

Trailblazers is a group of students that came together to build one another’s confidence and push each other to be our best selves. As a group we have organised many different events to raise money e.g. bake sales and talent shows. We are always using what we have learnt to encourage other students to be a part of this initiative in order to help raise self-esteem and empower one another to be the best we can be and to make a positive contribution to our own and other people’s happiness. This October we are taking part in a sailing trip with Tall Ships: in this we are all going to be mentally and physically pushed to the limit. All funds collected from the non-uniform day and the events mentioned below will go towards supporting our trip.

Furthermore, additional fundraising events are being planned: including a roller blading disco which will be on Thursday 17th October during lunch time and for an hour after school and students will be charged £1.00. Students will also be raising money for the expedition by doing a staff car wash.

Students must wear suitable clothes for school and we request that you support this by checking the outfit that your child chooses to wear. Students who are inappropriately dressed will be asked to go home and change and we would of course prefer to avoid any interruptions to learning.

Unacceptable clothing:

  •  Stiletto, high or pointed heels, platform shoes
  •  Low cut or otherwise revealing tops
  •  Short or otherwise revealing skirts or trousers
  •  Hats and coats are not permitted inside the school building

For health and safety reasons no additional jewellery may be worn than is acceptable on a normal school day.

Please be reminded that students are to adhere to Academy behaviour and attendance expectations, be punctual for school to begin at 8:45 a.m. and be prepared for lessons as normal.
