Enrichment and Personal/ Academic Achievement
“Boarders receive individualised support to help remove and overcome any difficulties that hinder their educational attainment. Pupils who attend the boarding provision generally achieve slightly better than their peers.”- Ofsted 2018
The communication links between the Academy and the boarding house helps to find out how boarders are achieving at school and also if detentions have been set. This helps to monitor behaviour and academic achievement to help develop our boarders to the best of their ability.
House parents also go the extra mile by holding one to one meetings often with boarders and report back to parents. It is a good opportunity to give boarders targets to aim towards to help development, this is not only for their academic achievement but also for their pastoral wellbeing to help them with any personal issues they may like to talk about, giving house parents the chance to deal with these effectively and efficiently.
Supervised study takes place in the Lord Adonis House for an hour every day Monday to Thursday and on Sunday, which helps to promote independent study as Boarders go through their years of education. As they move into 6th form independent study is highly supported and our bedrooms are excellently equipped for quiet and effective learning in their own personal space.
“A sensitively developed induction procedure enables new boarders to settle in ease. Boarders said that they felt very welcomed. Leaders’ organisation of a trip to a white- water centre provided a good opportunity for new pupils to get to know each other.”- Ofsted 2018
Our passion to provide an exciting, holistic education for our boarders has led to the development of an outstanding range of enrichment activities and trips. This ensures that when our boarders graduate from Lord Adonis House they are equipped for the outside world and more than prepared for the independence that university demands.
The boarders are able to make the most of a broad variety of sporting facilities on site, a great get away from school to relax and enjoy each other’s company in an active environment. These facilities include playing/athletics field, a modern floodlit 3G Astro football pitch, indoor 3G football pitch, outdoor tennis courts, dance studio, indoor sports hall and a gym. This is a great way for the boarders to compete against each other and also creates a massive team bond.
We pride ourselves on creating as many enriching opportunities for boarders as possible. Our charge is to ensure that everyone leaves here better equipped for the world outside. As well as exciting activities, we also offer expertly planned enrichment programmes that have a meaningful and tangible end product.
